i subscribe to the word of the day RSS feed. today’s word -

sycophant: one who seeks favor by flattery; a toady.

hardly something i would find the need for in the context of university life (sarcasm)…

    Hey, they’re not just at university – they’re everywhere.

    Is it a bad thing if one knows several people who fit that description?

    yep, i know. there was an especially high rate of sycophantism in the civil service too.

    bad, not necessarily. annoying, yes.
