basic literacy online
i’ve read studies and information about how the internet is transforming language for young people, actually increasing literacy and frequency of writing. contrary to what the average adult thinks of “ttyl” or “rotflmao”, it really is language - just accelerated.
what’s appalling is reading blogs entries and comments online from grown adults. maybe it’s just all the knobheads that make comments online, but it looks like the average adult can’t spell to save their life, let alone form a complete sentence. have a look at the movie reviews on a site like IMDB.com or wired.com. incoherent, poorly written, poor spelled crappola.
looks a lot like the pot calling the kettle black to me. maybe adults should take a few remedial english classes to get back to the point where they are comfortable with english as a first language.
