the writing on the wall
i figured by the time adults, or should i say ‘adults’, were in university they’d be over the whole writing on wall thing. it’s appalling to think that a grown person still feels they need to colour and draw on walls.
and it’s not even so much the pedantic need to colour but the content is below grade school children. pictures of large, and i mean large penises everywhere on campus (even on the ceilings) and accounts of oral and anal activities.
i’ve been to college and university campuses all over - the northwest territories, BC and australia and the university of calgary definitely has the worst graffiti problem. it seems to very much be an institution in decline, as far as infrastructure goes.
i wonder if the administration has considered the “broken window theory” - if things start getting run down and looking dodgey, then the perception of the university will follow. mount royal college and sait have updated and modernized their buildings, added new comforts and carefully maintained their buildings, with less funding.
in the coming weeks i’ll post photos of the decay of the university of calgary in hopes that it show up on google searches and perhaps come to the attention, albeit indirectly, of the administration.
