the last night of our prime ministers mandate

i honestly feel the same fear that i had in the pit of my stomach during the last american election. fear of a radical and powerful unknown.

for all intents and purposes, according to popular canadian media, we will have a conservative run parliament in some form or another.

the conservatives, or new conservative party, was born from the old reform party known for members making religious epithets in the media, for support of separation of the west from canada, and fundamental religious christian beliefs. they were smart to remove “progressive” from their name, and might have been better to add “regressive” for their views on abortion, homosexuality and separation.

i hope that liberal supporters, or liberal thinkers are able to muster enough vote to keep the conservatives in check through a minority gov’t so there is at least some voice of reason in parliament.

my canada includes quebec.
my canada includes western canada.
my canada allows people to live without fear, and allows them freedom to marry and their own values to family and sexual orientation.
my canada believes in sharing wealth, not the greed exhibited in my home province of alberta and oil revenues
my canada will eventually remove all guns, a throw back to the past (we’re not living in civil unrest)
my canada will stand for what is right - environmental reforms and supporting kyoto and similar world environmental initiatives
