changes making things exactly the same

Published by at Nov 29, 05 | 3:20 pm under general rants

well, the government of canada has lost it’s power to conduct business. we’re going to another election – one and half years after the last one.

all indications are that canadians are so fundamentally divided in their beliefs – conservative or liberal (small ‘c’, small ‘l’) that we’ll end up with the same representation in parliament – another minority liberal gov’t.

if this is the case i’m hoping that challenging parties (the opposition) will finally realize that it’s best to just wait another four years after our january re-election and try and get something done. if i were a betting man, and i am, i’d wager large sums of money the Liberals will be our gov’t again come the end of january.

i think the thing that’s most frustrating to canadians, at least in my opinion, is the fact that nothing seems to have been done over the last year or so. they’ve been so busy deciding if the gov’t had power, stephen harper battling to win support (and subsequently losing), then challenging again – it’s been pure politics and no work.

we’ve lost interest in the process since no matter who gets elected they’ll be in a minority and we’ll be mired in this political shit again for another term.

really i don’t feel confident that any of the parties represent the average canadian. come on stephen harper, $500/year for a daycare credit, that’s not even enough for one month. crazy.

i’m pretty sure things will continue as usual after the election.

Hi Mike! I finally got a chance to check out your blog. Very swanky.

I think you’re right on the money about the election results. I just wish the politicians would ditch their egos and (gasp!) work together for the betterment of their constituents. Is that too much to ask for?

Maybe it’s time to let one of the other parties take a crack at screwing up our country more…

Happy blogging and Happy New Year!
