no, actually, if you get a call it's for the sale of long distance service. if it were for an aide agency, or the like i'm sure most people would be less likely to get their backs up - in fact i'd be happy to contribute to just causes.

also it's the fact that they call even after being politely told "we're not interested". we get at least three phone calls a day.

fair comment though, it's not the end of the world by any means - just an annoyance. my point is that it's a shame that people's first contact with new technology like VOIP is an unpleasant one.

I just got this phone call from this number last night.... the first call was a lady with a strong accent leaving an URGENCY message. I ignored it... the second call I answered and same lady told me I had won a free installation for home security. I responded that I'm happy with my home security system and don't require another. She started asking questions regarding the type of system I had.... whether or not I use a phone line etc... I told her I prefer not to discuss it and thanked her for the call and hung up promptly.

Seems there are different versions to the validity of this number. I can't even put this number on call block on my phone.

weird eh? VOIP can come from any location physically and can be spoofed so that any number looks like it's coming from the one you and i have received these annoying calls from. that's what is going to make this so difficult to stop - like trying to grab the invisible man in a dark room.
