god called the other day…
i missed a call on my cellphone the other day, and lo and behold, it was literally the word of god. here’s the message -
“superfunk, i just wanted to call because we’re touching base with all the
people who don’t believe in me. i’d like to present my case for why
i, as a higher power, should be in your life. starting with:
- recent automotive miracles i have performed
- how i can make you feel superior to others
- how you too could win direct passage through the pearly gates, for
just $39.95/month
please call me back, mike. i’d love to hear from you. you don’t even
need to be near a phone or use up valuable minutes on your monthly
plan. just look up, say ‘dear god’, and i’ll listen.”
talk about an elevator pitch, and from god no less. needless to say it made me even more uncomfortable with organized religion.
