new monkey see, monkey do theory

A fascinating video online as part of the PBS show - Nova. The feature shows how the human brain learns through observation. The actions of others viewed through our eyes are interpretted in our brain much like we were performing the actions ourselves. A concept called “Mirror Neurons”.

Ever watch someone wince in pain as they watch an athlete experience an injury or big hit? It shows MRI scans of a persons brain - actions they think about, and actions they complete activate the same motor areas of the brain. Seeing, visualizing really is believing.
