same sex, same rights
great to see in an ever more conservative generation that the canadian parliament had the stones to pass the same sex legislation - bill c-38. finally, gays and lesbians are recognized with the equal right to marriage, spousal benefits and societal recognition of their relationships.
ol’ paul martin may look a bit dizzy on occasion, but i think that’s just his way of hiding a few political tricks.
recently, i watched a documentary on the folks killed in the chicago riots in the 60s, and how blacks were treated - this draws a frightening parallel.
hopefully, 20 years removed we’ll look back and see how ridiculous it was to have isolated gays/lesbians and how they were denied basic human rights.
