random acts of kindness and clean windows

usually this is associated with the sid vicious looking types, the angst-ridden youth. well, on the bus ride home the other day one of these kids broke their own stereotype.

not only did he stop to clean the window of the bus, a public transit vehicle, but he also cleaned the passenger windows. then stopped by my window, waved and drew a happy face in the dust on the window and waved goodbye. and i’m a pretty good judge of character - it wasn’t some smartassed - fuck you wave - it was genuine.

the looks on the passenger’s faces were truly amazing. when he approached the bus there was fear on the faces of many of the riders (black leather jacket, mohawk haircut and blue hair = fear in whitey land). after his oprah-esque gesture there were smiles on the bus driver’s and passenger’s faces. cool, i think yes.
