Enough, leave the poor ol’ guy alone

what are people thinking? this is an old man, with many ailments and in failing health. yet, people at the vatican continued to prop him up in the window like a puppet for the daily viewings by throngs of “followers”. i can’t see any logical reason why people would create even more stress for the guy in a situation that is already completely off the scale. i’m not well versed in the bible but one part i do know - “do onto others…” would you want thousands of cameras and crowds of tens of thousands beating down your door when you’re banging on heavens door, i think not.

and the updates. oh the updates. we’re in canada, not italy. and we’re getting minute by minute updates and shots of a light left on in the window. i think the media is largely responsible for what is now the new standard in journalism - if you wait long enough a story will unfold in front of you. i’m surprised they don’t have minute by minute accounts of traffic on freeways - just waiting for an accident so they can be first at the scene. they really have deteriorated into a profession of ambulance chasers.

to top it off the pope’s body is lying in “state”. now that is a tradition i’ve never understood, even wih modern embalming technology - a dead corpse on public display for several days. to look ill while you’re alive is bad, to be on display looking, well, dead is unfathomable.

when i’m done pull the plug like an old toaster, put me in a toaster and get rid of the burnt crumbs.

And what, shoot you out of Hunter S. Thompson’s canon?
