the emperor’s new clothes, okay mine anyway
i’ve still got a keen sense of musical coolness, but fashion has left me like a fart in the wind – blown off into the hinterland. i haven’t got a frickin’ clue what’s cool anymore. it’s not something that evolves either, it sneeks up on you. i haven’t bought any new clothes for say 4 years (save a few) and wandering through the social abyss that is a mall was a bizarre experience in the timewarp that is a 30 something’s life.
funny how our style changes as we get older, and with the revival of each generation we return to where we were in our youth. the evolution in my fashion has been – preppie, banger, alternative/grunge/seattle, and a mix thereof now.
i’m just glad i’m not a female, i remember the dayglo of the 80’s and early nineties. who the fuck thought that would be cool again? someone has been blowing on the ol’ crack pipe trying to come up with that new “trend” for this spring – just look at the Gap, La Senza, etc – bright make-you-wanna wretch green and pink. i guess history does repeat itself, unfortunately we’re doomed to repeat our fashion faux-pas from the past.
