my taste in music and becoming a teenage girl

now before you think i’m some pre, or slightly post-pubescent male let me set the record straight - i’m slightly over 33 but slightly shy of 35. in the past few months some of the music that has registered most on my radar have been avril lavigne, michelle branch and a tune by kelly clarkson and a new band (to me) the scissor sisters.

odd since, i’m a throw-back to the alt-rock scene of the early 90’s and rap/metal. but the emotional content must register with the little girl in me. they all have an understated urgency to their lyrics and music.

maybe in times of change, stress or general malaise one reverts to a past state of mind, or perhaps a past life - if i truly am behaving like a teenage girl.

maybe it’s just a longing to be a teenager, or have less responsibilities. when you’re a teenager you long for responsibility and opportunities to prove your an adult - well as an adult now i’m seeking opportunities to find the energy and enthusiasm of youth.
